Camp Wilderness is planning to be the summer oasis for you and your Scouts this summer! We know the past few months have been unprecedented, and many parents and leaders are having difficulty in taking additional time off this summer to go to camp. We also know there are families who want to go to camp this summer, but their troops have elected not to.
To help alleviate these concerns we are planning to implement a couple different resources to guarantee you can come to camp this summer and experience all of the outdoor magic that Camp Wilderness has to offer!
Camp Wilderness is the premier Boy Scout camping facility of the Northern Lights Council. The 2,400 acre "Outdoor Classroom" is situated between beautiful Bad Axe and Mantrap Lake near Park Rapids, MN in Hubbard County and hosts numerous year-round programs for Boy Scouts.
Camp Wilderness is host to miles of trails, multiple shooting ranges, a climbing tower, COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) elements, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, sailboats, fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoes, and so much more!

High Adventure at Camp Wilderness
During Sessions 5, and 6 Scouts who are 14 years old or have completed 8th grade can earn their PADI certification. Scouts spend the last three hours of the day learning all about scuba diving, the equipment, safety, and going out into the lake to practice. Scuba is open to Scouts and Adults with Scouts getting the preference.
This is a program created for Scouts, by Scouts! Spend the week trekking through the backwoods of Camp Wilderness. During the OWLS program, Scouts will work on orienteering to locate campsites, wilderness survival skills, and aquatic skills. This is a program completely separate from Camp, and the Scouts in it will only complete this program during the week at camp.
Camp Wilderness has partnered with Northern Tier to provide an extraordinary Boundary Water Adventure! Scouts will arrive at camp on Sunday, check in, and then make their way up to the Northern Tier base. From there the week will consist of canoeing, camping, fishing, portaging, and having the adventure of a lifetime. There must be a certain number of Scouts within the group in order for them to go out. Scouts must be 14 years old to go on this trek.
